What is your favourite book?
Children of the Dust by Louise Lawrence
It's probably out of print now, and actually probably not very good if I compare it to the stuff that's out today, but it had a huge affect on me as a young reader. Dystopian sci-fi written when there actually WAS the threat of nuclear extinction towards the end of the cold war.

Who is your favourite author?
Margaret Atwood
She was the first proper writer I got into as a young person, and I ate all her novels up when I was a young reader. I felt we understood each other. She also brought in elements to her novels (most notably, science fiction) which showed me that you could be a classy, literary writer and delve into genre too. She broke all the boundaries down for me.

Why do you like reading?
Because I can live vicariously through characters. I fall in love when they do, I have psychic powers when they do, I travel in time when they do. I believe in the power of play, and the only way you can usually acceptably do that as an adult is by reading and indulging your imagination!

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
I'm writing one now!!! It's based on my experiences working at Summer Camps in America, fragmented with stories from the kids' points of view. Proper swoony love fest about a girl falling in love with a cowboy, with lots of fun and shenanigans mixed in.

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
Hugs and high fives

You may not believe it but...............
I have had many crazy jobs before I became a bookseller, including a toy demonstrator, an audience researcher for the X Factor, a producer on the Classic FM request show, a tour guide at the Natural History Museum and a travel news reader on London radio.

We would like to say a big thank you to Nicole for taking the time to answer our questions. Don't forget you can follow Nicole on twitter or over at her blog.
