Blogger Interview:~ Michelle @ Muched Loved Books

Add caption

Our last blogger interview comes from Michelle @ Muched Loved Books. We met Michelle via twitter like so many other bloggers and we think she is fantastic!! Bungle has had the pleasure of meeting Michelle a few times and looks forward to their next meet up!!! Michelle has an awesome blog that we think you should pay a visti to.

What is your favourite book?
Do I have to just pick one? Can it be a series?

If I have to pick just one book I choose Lord Of The Rings, I read this when I was younger, the big giant version with all 3 books in one volume and I loved it.

My favourite series is The Belgariad & The Malloreon by David Eddings.

My Nan introduced me to both of these choices and it's what made me fall in love with reading (and why I also completed my school reading books before I finished Infant School and got to choose from the teachers bookcase)

Who is your favourite author?
There are a lot of authors I really like, Kelley Armstrong, Ilona Andrews, Rachel Vincent, Rachel Caine, Jeyn Roberts, Jana Oliver but again I have to go with David Eddings. The world he has built and characters that live in it are so amazing, and it is always easy to fall into his books and not come up for air until the very last page.

Why do you like reading?
To escape into other worlds, to read about different beings, shifters, vampires, merpeople.  I love opening a new book and learning about the characters and what makes them tick. I love exploring a new world and learning about it. I also love to read just for the fun of it.

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
Ermm......No idea, possibly a dystopian world and would somehow involve either shifters, witches or magicians...I'll get back to you if I ever do write a novel ;)

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
Life According To Me

You may not believe it but...............
I am absolutely 1000000% scared of needles.  I have been having a flu jab every year for as long as I can remember and I have to take my Mum or Dad with me (I am 31) I wont go alone.  When I get my ears pierced I close my eyes as the gun scares me, yet I have 6 tattoos and might consider getting more if/when I have children.

At the moment I have 3 that were my first ones, just random ones that don't mean anything.

My newest 3 have been done in the past 13 months and all mean something.  I have one each for my Nan's who passed away.

This one is obviously for my Dad.  I got it last year and I think this pic was quite close to when I actually had it done.

Thank you sooo much Michelle for answering our questions!! You can visit Michelle at her blog here and follow her on twitter. Michelle, we can't believe you have so many tattoos and yet you hate needles!! Very brave!!

Blogger Interview:~ Erin @ Tales of the Inner Book Fanatic

Today we have Erin from Tales of the Inner Book Fanatic who we met via twitter. We think Erin's blog is beautiful and you should check it out, we don't think you will disagree.

What is your favourite book?
My favourite book would have to be Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

Who is your favourite author?
That's a hard one. I have three favourite authors . . . Richelle Mead, Jeaniene Frost and Jeaniene Frost.

Why do you like reading?
I like reading because you can escape from your own reality. Who doesn't want to?

image from nationalgeographic.com

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?I have so many ideas running through my head right now, but I would love to write a novel about ancient Japan with some fantasy elements blended into it since I'm obsessed with anything Japanese and not to mention that particular period.

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
"This book is just too perfect to have a clever witty title". Honestly I have no idea what my life would be called if it were a book. There are too many words to describe my life.

You may not believe it but...............
I'm a lover of Asian culture and I listen to Kpop (Korean pop music) everyday! :)

Thank you so much Erin for taking the time to answer our questions! You can visit Erin over at her blog here and follow her on twitter. And we would love to read your YA novel about Japan, we have faith that you'll do it!!

Blogger Interview:~ Mandy @ I Read Indie

Today we have Mandy from I Read Indie (formally know as twimom101 book blog). We met Mandy via twitter and love reading her twitter feed.

What is your favourite book?
hmm, right now it's a toss up between Tracey Garvis-Graves On the Island and Elizabeth Hunter's The Genius and the Muse. Both are adult reads...so if I had to choose a YA read it would be Collide by Shelly Crane...I love any and all her books.

Who is your favourite author?
Probably Shelly Crane. Her stuff is magic! And she is a great person too! I consider her one of my friends....even if it is via Internet.

Why do you like reading?
I don't know...I guess cause it takes me away from the everyday things going on in my life. Not that my life is horrible or anything...but I do have the stress that comes with being an adult and raising kids. So yeah, I am playing the 'It takes me away to far off lands and I don't have to be an adult for the time being' card!

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
ooh yikes! so not going there. I am most definitely a reader and if I wrote a story it wouldn't be cool what so ever. yeah lets not go there, ok?

If a book was written about your life what would it be called? The lady who sat on her computer all day and read all night. Yeppers, I am one boring person.

You may not believe it but...............
so far some of my quotes have landed me on the back of 3 Indie Author's paperbacks. To me it's awesome...to others probably not so much.

Thank you Mandy for answering our questions. Don't forget to visit Mandy at her blog here and you can follow her on twitter.

Blogger Interview:~ The Library Mouse

Today we have The Library Mouse here at the blog to answer our questions. We met The Library Mouse via twitter and we love our morning chats about tea and books!

What is your favourite book?
Unfortunately I do not have a single favourite... I have loads of favourites! Having read so much and continuing to read bucket loads, I encounter greatly amazing stories that make their way into the heart and mind, and eventually my favourites. So I'd probably say I have around 20 odd favourites at the moment, and the list is most likely going to continue to grow. I also admit that I'm quite happy with this as I can never get enough of these fantastic tales.

Who is your favourite author?
Lots of favourites, lots of authors so..... :p

Why do you like reading?
Well the honestly truthful answer to that is a bit complex and will most likely sound insane but I'll do my best to explain myself without sounding psychotic.
The worlds, characters and stories created by these amazing people hold something ours does not: mind twisting mysteries, book gripping suspense, heart stopping fights and a lot of magic.
I like to think I lead a pretty nice life, and being a healthcare professional I occasionally get a pinch of heart wrenching drama; but being able to escape to such amazing places, live these exciting lives is just beautiful. They make me laugh, cry, blush and so much more.
Why would anyone not want to read and explore their imagination is beyond me :p

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
I have actually thought about it, and I decided long ago that it would be about a magical world connected to ours on a different plane. The safety and peaceful coexistence of both worlds depends very much on the ability of few important individuals trained in the mystical plane to maintain balance and order.
But I can't tell you too much or I'd give away my idea/plot and you never know, someday I might actually sit down and write it and become amazingly famous :p Unlikely, but still a girl can dream can't she?

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
Errmmmm not sure :s I've never thought of that because I never really thought my life would be considered worth writing lol. Give me a minute....
Ok if some poor soul really did decide to put my life onto paper then I think the title would have to read something along the lines of "The misunderstood daydreamer". As the title says I daydream, fantasise, create imaginary characters and stories on a rather regular basis; but I've given up explaining myself to others because they just don't plain get it. Only one poor creature gets me (needless to say we are very much the same that way, eternal daydreaming bookworms) and puts up with alot of my overactive imagination.

You may not believe it but...............
Well you may not believe it but I'm actually a very nearly (2 months) qualified healthcare professional. Despite all my daydreaming and very imaginary creative mind, at work I'm pretty rational, on the ball and slightly OCD about being organised. People don't quite seem to able to quite comprehend how some rational overly organised individual, can be so pathetically emotional and absorbed in her own little world when not looking after someone. And yet this is somehow how my mind functions.

Thank you so much to The Library Mouse for taking the time to answer our blogger questions. You can find The Library mouse on twitter and you can visit her blog here.

Blogger Interview:~ Raimy @ Readaraptor

Today's turn for a blogger interview is the rawesome Raimy for over at Readaraptor. I had the pleasure of meting Raimy a few weeks ago and she is sooooooo lovely!! Her blog is brilliant and you should really go check it out, especially if you like dinosaurs :)

What is your favourite book?
This is such a hard question, I honestly don't know the answer, I can tell you that my two favourites of the year so far are Emma <3's LA by Keris Stainton and Adorkable by Sarra Manning... and my favourite series of all time is Naughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman... I think Looking for JJ by Anne Cassidy is way up there in my favourite books too...

Malorie Blackman

Who is your favourite author?Another hard question.... Malorie Blackman is definitely one of them, Sarra Manning is another! I have hundreds of authors who I love but not my favourites. Then there's also Nick Hornby, Irvine Welsh and Celia Ahern who are Adult authors that I would call favourites

Why do you like reading?
Because it opens up new worlds, new possibilities and exciting adventures. It makes life exciting when I'm just sat around on my couch and most of all it gives me something to do when the other half is playing video games (that last ones a joke.. its true but its not the reason I love reading)

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
In all honesty... I wouldn't. I'm nowhere near enough of a good writer to write a YA novel... however if I magically developed amazing writing abilities I would want to write something contemporary, probably involving LGBT and self image themes with sex and swearing...  because they are all things I think are important.

Image from The Other Side of
The Story

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
It would be so boring the title would put you to sleep! haha I have no idea what it would be called or what it would feature, possibly if it was about my teen life it would be something like 'The Passion of a Mixed Up Mind' or something like that... but that's probably a rubbish title, haha

You may not believe it but...............
I didn't always love reading. I read peoples blogs saying they were obsessed with reading for years, ever since they could read independently but it wasn't like that for me. My sister was a huge reader and she opened up reading for me when I was in around year 7/8 but I still wasn't obsessed... I read a bit and enjoyed what I read but I didn't read all the time... I then went through a phase of not reading at all for pleasure while I was at uni because I had so many set texts forced upon me that reading was no longer fun. Its only when I finished uni in 2010 did I rekindle my love of books and my obsession really began again.

Blogger Interview:~ Liz @ Planet Print

Today Liz from Plant Print is here on the blog to answer our questions. We got to know Liz through twitter and discovered her blog soon after.

What is your favourite book?
Well, I don't know if I have one favourite...the Harry Potter series is definitely my favourite series of all time (it always has been) but I can't pick which one I like best! Probably either Prisoner of Azkaban or Half-Blood Prince, I think.

image from all over the web
Who is your favourite author?
Gotta be J.K. Rowling :P. I'm so Harry Potter obsessed, and I'm seriously thankful to JKR. I grew up with Harry Potter and I think I'd be a completely different person if she'd never written those books.

Why do you like reading?
Escapism. Real life can be difficult, but mostly it can just be boring. Especially as a student...I feel like all I do is either go to college or do work at home when I'm not at college! But books are filled with different worlds, and different people. Everything is more exciting, and when you're reading, you don't have to think about the three thousand word essay you have to write, or the exams you have to take :P.

image from all over the web

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
I've always been fascinated by villains. I think villains that are just pure evil are probably my least favourite type, because they're too simple. Villains who are villains because they're driven to it...much more interesting. I think I'd maybe write about a sympathetic villain and a hero who meet each other on a lonely road. Often a hero and a villain share similar traits, but choose different paths. So villains. Or demons. I've always like demons and angels too :P.

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
Definitely "Jaded".

You may not believe it but...
I played the Cheshire Cat in my GCSE drama exam. We did a twisted version of Alice in Wonderland - I was never very good at drama, so I came up with the basic idea for our play and let everyone else do the directing etc. But it was fun to take part (though also very embarrassing :P).

We would like to say thank you to Liz for taking the time to answer our questions. You can find Liz on twitter as well as over at her blog Plant Print.

Stacking the Shelves #5

Carnival, Paris (Woman reading behind stage)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted over at Tynga's reviews. This meme allows us bloggers to tell you all about the books we have added to your shelves over the past seven days whether they be physical or virtual. This means we include books you can buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

We love sharing our books with you each week but more then that we loving seeing what books you get each week!! All links will take you to goodreads.

Sally's shelf

This week has been a VERY good week for me! For my Bank Manager, not so much...! The first thing I got this week was a fabulous surprise parcel from Bungle which contained four books! Now that's how a Monday should be!  Bungle sent me Vixen by Jillian Larkin, Shift by Em Bailey, The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder and The Seeing by Diana Hendry.  Bungle's pretty clued in to what books I enjoy so I can't wait to get into these! I was also given a copy of The Fallen by Thomas Sniegoski as a lend by my fellow book fan Poppy which came highly recommended so huge thanks you to Pops for letting me read it - I'll look after it I promise! I also got my hands on (and devoured) Rapture by Lauren Kate, one the of the last most anticipated books of this year.  It's utterly fabulous and I can't recommend this series enough.  I'll put up a full review when I've digested what just happened. Loved it! Finally, I popped into Waterstones and made the most of their offers! I treated myself to Unrest by Michelle Harrison (a Bungle recommendation :)) I also bought Heaven by Christoph Marzi (fell in love with the cover) Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton and because I loved The Fault in our Stars so much I also bought Looking for Alaska by John Green.  If it's anywhere near as good as TFIOS then I know I won't be disappointed!

Bungle's shelf

My first book this week is Heart Shaped Bruise by Tanya Byrne. I met Tanya a few weeks ago at the book launch for Emma Hearts LA and I knew I had her book & it was in my work pile of proofs :D I was really good again and didn't buy any books but my boyfriend bought two for me!! hehe :) (Genius! - Sal ) So also this week I got Uglies by Scott Westerfeld which I have been looking at for years now & never picked up. And The Glimpse by Claire Merle I've heard really mixed things about this one (I might not have bought it myself) but I'm happy to read to form my own opinion.

But that's enough about us! What did you add to your shelves this week?

Blogger Interview:~ Laura @ Into The Mornnig Reads

Today's questions have been answered by Jenny from Into The Morning Reads. Jenny has a beautiful blog and we don't think you'd be disappointed if you pay her a visit. We got to know Jenny through twitter and we're really excited she could answer our questions.

The Forbidden Game (The Forbidden Game, #1-3)
image from goodreads
What is your favourite book?
My favorite (yeah, no "u" because I'm a wonky American :D) book is actually a trilogy combined into one paperback. It sits on my shelf & I read it every year over the summer. It's The Forbidden Game by LJ Smith who also wrote The Vampire Diaries & The Secret Circle. I bought what's called the Omnibus Edition back in 1997 (so imagine how many times I've read it) & I love it to death. I want EVERYONE to read it! Seriously, go read it!

Who is your favourite author?
Probably, if I'm honest, my favorite author is Dean Koontz. He's not a YA writer but he is the author I have read the absolute most books by. Though if you ask me who my favorite YA writer is I will also honestly answer that it is Rusty Fischer. He's an indie author that EVERYONE needs to read if they EVER liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer for her witty banter or they love paranormal (vampire/zombie/werewolf) romance with really well-written plots & super snarky protagonists. If nothing else, pick up Vamplayers because that book finally got me to include a "vampire" label to my blog! Rusty Fischer is one of those writers where I don't even have to read the synopsis to know I will LOVE the book.

Why do you like reading?
I LOVE reading because it is an absolute escape from reality if done properly. And what I love to read is YA dystopian fiction. I am such a sucker for how authors think the world might end or be re-born under some kind of tyranny. And I love seeing who authors will design to overcome these extreme obstacles & how they grow from the average, everyday person into a hero.

image from make money in life

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
I've actually written a LOT of YA novels (though never published). I have 8 so far just sitting on shelf collecting dust. But I do have 2 WIPs (works in progress) and one is about a girl who finds out she's a vampire's worst nightmare (my answer to the overabundance of vampire novels where the vampire is the top of the food chain) and the other is about a house that seems to have a life of its own & starts acting up during a weekend party (my nod to Agatha Christie's great "house" mysteries like And Then There Were None where all the characters were trapped in a house in the country where murders were taking place).

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
That's a tough one. Um. I've actually thought about that some & have gone through different incarnations of that idea. One was "Missionary Dieting: A Story About My Interactions With The Girls Who Eat Salad" and another was "Life With Mama" but those were written by someone else in my life at the time. What I'd really like a book about my life to be titled would be "An Addict's Guide to Snark, Social Media, & Being Everyone Else's Cheerleader."

We are so grateful that Jenny took time to answer our questions, thank you Jenny! Don't for get to pop over to Jenny's blog Into The Morning Reads and you can also follower her on twitter.

Blogger Interview:~ Nicole @ The Reluctant Hypersoniac

Today Midnight Reads is pleased to say Nicole from The Reluctant Hypersomniac is here to answer our blogger questions. Her blog is awesome please go and have a look see!

Children of the Dust
image from goodreads

What is your favourite book?
Children of the Dust by Louise Lawrence
It's probably out of print now, and actually probably not very good if I compare it to the stuff that's out today, but it had a huge affect on me as a young reader. Dystopian sci-fi written when there actually WAS the threat of nuclear extinction towards the end of the cold war.

Who is your favourite author?
Margaret Atwood
She was the first proper writer I got into as a young person, and I ate all her novels up when I was a young reader. I felt we understood each other. She also brought in elements to her novels (most notably, science fiction) which showed me that you could be a classy, literary writer and delve into genre too. She broke all the boundaries down for me.

Why do you like reading?
Because I can live vicariously through characters. I fall in love when they do, I have psychic powers when they do, I travel in time when they do. I believe in the power of play, and the only way you can usually acceptably do that as an adult is by reading and indulging your imagination!

images from Building Bridges

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
I'm writing one now!!! It's based on my experiences working at Summer Camps in America, fragmented with stories from the kids' points of view. Proper swoony love fest about a girl falling in love with a cowboy, with lots of fun and shenanigans mixed in.

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
Hugs and high fives

You may not believe it but...............
I have had many crazy jobs before I became a bookseller, including a toy demonstrator, an audience researcher for the X Factor, a producer on the Classic FM request show, a tour guide at the Natural History Museum and a travel news reader on London radio.

We would like to say a big thank you to Nicole for taking the time to answer our questions. Don't forget you can follow Nicole on twitter or over at her blog.

Blogger Interview:~ Stephanie @ Stepping Out of the Pages

Today's blogger is Stephanie from the awesome blog that is Stepping Out of the Page. We love this blog and we hope you pay Stephanie a visit.

What is your favourite book?
My favourite Book is The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.  I also feel the need to mention that I also loved Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte,  A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters, Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

Jodi Picoult
Jodi Picoult
Image from goodreads
Who is your favourite author?I don't really have a favourite author, but if I had to choose it would probably be Jodi Picoult, simply because I've read quite a few of her books and I'd willingly purchase any new book by her without knowing what it's about. I love a lot of books by a lot of different authors, though and admire them all.

Why do you like reading?
It relaxes me and distracts me from the outside world. It's nice to have a different place to escape to, even just for a little while.

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
Definitely something that dealt with mental illness/psychological issues. I have no idea what the plot would be, but it would definitely include an angst-filled teen!

Stephanie

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
…er, I have no idea!

You may not believe it but............…
Whilst I was an avid reader as a child, I hardly read at all from the age 10-18 - I absolutely loathed the thought of picking up a book. I only really began reading again when I was eighteen as a form of therapy and now I can't stop!

We want to say a big thank you to Stephanie for taking the time to answer our blogger questions. Don't forget to stop by her blog or pay her a visit on twitter.

Blogger Interview:~ Carolin @ Big Book Little Book

Today's answers come from Carolin over at Big Book Little Book. This is a lovely little blog that everyone should visit.
We became friends with Big Book Little Book via twitter and we are so pleased Carolin had time to answer our questions!

What is your favourite book?
Pride and Prejudice. I love a good romance and I have to read this one every year or so. I also own the Colin Firth/BBC adaptation and the Kira Knightley Film which I watch regularly between re-reads.

Cassandra Clare
Cassandra Clare
image from goodreads
Who is your favourite author?
It would have to be a tie between Maggie Stiefvater for her beautiful, poetic prose and Cassandra Clare for her awesome world building(not to mention swoon worthy Shadowhunters).

Why do you like reading?
For me reading is pure escapism, although I am not adversed to learning something or having my assumptions challenged.

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
At the moment I can't get enough of  the Dystopian genre,so I guess my book would be post apocalyptic. There would have to be romance and, due to my midwifery background here would probably be some fertility or childbearing element. Rest assured I am very much a reader and not a writer!

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
Probably something along the lines of "Caroline V's The Kindle: The 80% Challenge"  I have to admit that reading consumes most of my child free, work free time and since the purchase of my e-reader I find it impossible put a book down once I pass the 80% mark!

You may not believe it but.........……
Although I spent 13 years as a vegetarian I now eat my steak rare!

A big thank you to Carolin for answering our questions. Bungle agrees with the steak, it's the best way to eat it!! Dont forget to visit Big Book Little Book and you can also find them on twitter.

Blogger Interview:~ Cait @ The Cait Files

Today at Midnight Reads we have Cait from The Cait Files. Cait is an awesome blogger and we have much respect for her! We were super excited she could spend a few minuets answering our questions. You can visi Cait's blog here to read more about her.

What is your favourite book?
Saving Francesca
Image from goodreads
I have two really, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides and Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta.

Who is your favourite author?
So hard to pick just one!! Sarah Rees Brennan, Cassie Clare and Richelle Mead are my top 3. Maggie Stiefvater is no.4 I think.

Why do you like reading?
Escapism, completely. And also, because it gives me something to do. And reading can be as antisocial or as social as you want to make it and I like that.

If you wrote a YA novel what would it be about?
Vampires. Vampires are my ultimate love. But it would be less paranormal romance, more gritty urban fantasy set in England.

If a book was written about your life what would it be called?
We Tore Ourselves Apart. Sounds cheery I know...

You may not believe it but..............
I work for O2 customer services. You know when you want to change your tariff or have trouble topping up? Well, it might be my dulcet,  vaguely annoyed tones on the other end of that phoneline. Bear that in mind before you ring in ;)

We want to say a big thank you to Cait for answering our questions and don't forget to pop over to her blog for her fantastic reviews!
