Winter Warmers ~ Sarah Alderson chooses Grave Mercy

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1)

We are really excited to have Sarah Alderson on the blog today for day 3 of our Winter Warmers Event. Bungle is a big fan of Sarah's and she was so happy that Sarah could take a little time to choose one of her favourite debut authors of 2012. Over to you Sarah.

My favourite debut of the year (unfortunately I've not read many) would be Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers!

I met three bloggers in Singapore at the Kinokuniya - the biggest book store. And I asked them to pick out (from tens of thousands of books stacked on shelves and tables) their top three young adult reads. Seriously - this was an epic task. They were surrounded by mountains of books. Anyway, they picked out Grave Mercy as one of the three. It's not my normal read AT ALL. But I thought I'd try something out the ordinary and I loved it. I loved the history, the plotting, the writing, the mystery. It was beautiful. One of my favourite reads of the year.

goodreads says: Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?

Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.

Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

We are so thankful that Sarah could find the time to tell us about Grave Mercy, Bungle has put it to the top of her wishlist! Follow the links below to find out more about both authors.
